Christopher

Nominated by Dr. Oliveira, CDTC Dentist

Christopher’s journey at CDTC began when he was just over 1 year old and is marked by his sweet personality and infectious smile that leaves a lasting impact on those around him. Despite facing the challenges associated with achondroplasia, a genetic condition affecting growth and development, Christopher has become an inspiration to those fortunate enough to know him. His pediatrician, Dr. LaFrance, and his ECHO care coordinator have played a significant role in ensuring Christopher’s well-being and health care needs are met. His ECHO care coordinator ensures the family remains organized and informed about medical appointments and follow-up recommendations as Christopher sees multiple specialists including pulmonary, orthopedics, ENT, physiatry, and dental. Mom has voiced her appreciation for the reminder calls she receives from her care coordinator for upcoming appointments. Christopher also sees the CDTC dentist, Dr. Oliveira, who has remarked on Christopher’s wonderful positive and friendly demeanor.

Christopher is now 7 years old and is in the 1st grade.  He enjoys going to school and is known to rush Mom to leave the Center after his appointment so he can get back there.  He loves cars and playing with his siblings.  With the support and guidance from his CDTC care team and his loving family, Christopher’s future is bright.  It because of his inspiring positivity despite his complex medical condition and his family’s motivation to work with the CDTC care team to coordinate and stay on a plan of treatment for his physical and oral health that Christopher is recognized as CDTC’s HERO.

About our Hero of the Month

Each month, CDTC staff nominate one of our children as our  Hero of the Month. These special boys and girls are heroes in our eyes. They show strength, perseverance, determination and a positive outlook while facing great challenges.

Their stories are powerful and heartwarming and reflect the impact CDTC and you, our community, has on their daily lives.

A trip to our Clinic is more than just a doctor’s visit to a child with special healthcare needs.

But, insurance doesn’t cover everything. That’s why your gift is so important.
